Ti Kwen Glo Cho, is a family run business that includes a wonderfully landscaped sulfur water spa, lodging, and restaurant.
The first time I went to Ti Kwen Glo Cho, I was not expecting what I encountered. I arrived with Michael and Nicole, two locals who had been there before; it was my first time. We sat down at a table and went for the appetizers that were already laid out. I went all in because the bread-covered fried plantain was addictive, but Michael and Nicole just nibbled on the appetizers, eating a little bit now and then. They have better self-control than I do!
Then the entrée came in and I thought to myself, “is this why they were only snacking on the appetizer?” I wanted to take some pictures prior to digging in, so Michael got up. Nicole moved her chair back to allow me some solitude in the photo frame. Michael then asked her to push it back in - he didn’t want to take a shot of the whole table, which made it look like I was Miss Piggy. Of course, I agreed.
Later, while telling Michael and Nicole how much I loved the food and the eco-conscious wooden utensils, I learned that everything except the fish in my meal came from the owners’ garden. I had just been to my first garden-to-table restaurant in Dominica, with food that was chef’s kiss-worthy, and I didn’t even realize it before I tucked in.
I called back a few days later to reserve for lunch that same day. To my disappointment I was told I had need to make a reservation a day earlier. I just have to go back to Dominica and visit the restaurant again.
