Something Samarahis a chic, no-fuss Barbadian fashion brand with island vibes, wit, and a whole lot of quality, just like the owner, designer, and creator, Samarah Comissiong. The brand offers handcrafted ceramic jewelry, jute clutches, bags, clothing, and many other things.
All of Something Samarah's pieces are ethically, locally, and sustainably produced. And that's just one of the things that makes this brand something special!
Samarah’s signature and easily recognizable pieces are her handmade ceramic jewelry. The heart image is featured in many of those pieces reflecting the love she pours into her creations, her business, and the island she lives on. It is also reflective of the human being that she is; she is full of love.
Samarah does not just work with ceramic. She also creates, by herself, the knots which make up one of my favorite bags. Stick one of her hand-printed jute clutches in the bag, and it becomes a chic handbag. Remove the clutch, and it can become a stylish grocery or beach bag. There is versatility in her pieces.
The quality and attention to detail of Something Samarah are impeccable! But then again, Samarah knows what she is doing, and being creative is in her blood. Before starting her label in 2010, Samarah studied ceramic design at Central Saint Martins, an art school in London. After, she was a sales assistant at Anthropologie, a fashion and home goodies retailer known for beautifully crafted and rare one-of-a-kind items. She also happens to be the daughter of a well-known artist and gallery owner in Barbados.
The pieces from the 50% eponymous brand are designed and created by someone distinguished and experienced at her craft.
You can find Samarah's work at Limegrove mall, Brighton Farmers Market, and Holders Farmers Market. Also follow her on Facebook and Instagramto know the other places you can find her products and maybe even get to meet her. If you get to meet this wonderful soul below, tell her I say hi!
Working with locals, I provide you with uniquely curated experiences and recommendations that get you off the beaten track and into the heart of the community you travel to.
