On the second day after I arrived in Dominica, I reached out to Mayma, a popular food blogger and creator of Dominica Gourmet. I asked her for recommendations of places I should eat in Dominica, and she gave me three recommendations. I tried two, as the third was still closed due to COVID-19. The food at POZ’s restaurant is memorable; hence, you get to hear about it here on my blog!
POZ’s Restaurant is known for Caribbean, Cajun, and Creole food. The food is not only great, but you will get the distinct feeling that it was homecooked with love. You look across the bar into the kitchen and you see, a jovial lady cooking your food. She has been with Troy, the owner, since he opened the bar. As you wait, Troy will likely offer you some callaloo soup on the house. Callaloo is a green vegetable, similar to spinach, that originated in West Africa. For the soup, it’s blended with onions and other spices. This is definitely a place I will visit again for its POZitive vibe (yes, I went there, lol) and great food.
