Pokawa, as the name hints, is a restaurant serving poke bowls - both traditional and innovative options. The owners Alexis and Niko, two French guys, started Pokawa when they arrived in Medellín after traveling through South America. They fell in love with the city, and I can see why it caught their heart. The climate in the cosmopolitan city is lovely – it’s a vibrant city where a place like Pokawa can be a success.
Tucked away in a quiet residential street in a small complex with other restaurants,
Pokawa is an unassuming restaurant with an artistic flair.
While I was there, a hip-looking group of local photographers was having a meeting. I could not eardrop because the conversation was in Spanish, as was the menu at Pokawa. That said, Alexis, who I believe I met based on the photo of the two I saw online months later, was incredibly nice and translated the menu for me. The first time I went, I bought the salmon mango poke bowl, and the second time, I had the chicken bowl. Both bowls were delectable.
