Mandinga Rum Bar (Bogota, Colombia)

I have a deep love for trying new rums. I also have a deep love for French gin and tequila - specifically Casa Amigos tequila. But this entry is about rum, specifically the rum-based cocktail creations at Mandinga Rum Bar in Bogota, Colombia. The rum bar is in the Usaquen neighborhood, a place known for its Sunday craft market, historic town square, and cobblestone streets and, and I assume soon for the rum bar because it was packed!

The bar is in a renovated three-story building with a rustic facade of exposed whitewashed bricks. You step into the building, and the decoration is Caribbean accents of copper, emerald green, and tropical prints.

As the building is small, the bar's space varies between being cramped and intimate, depending on the crowd level. Salsa music plays in the background, enticing you to dance. If you escape to the quaint bathroom papered in a beautiful tropical print, you'll have enough space to do a few short salsa steps (ok, ok, I speak from experience).

The cocktail menu was intense! There were so many rum cocktails options. Fearing a paralysis in decision making, which happens to me when I have too many options, I went with a mojito (no, I am not proud of myself). The eponymous rum was excellent, and the mojito was the best I have had thus far. Below are few photos of some of the other cocktails I lifted from the bar's Facebook page because they are much better than the pictures I took of the mojito. The bar is worth a visit!
