Building Edna Explores started in 2020. It took almost two years to muster up the courage to finally let this passion project of mine fly. Rather than tell you why and how fear got in the way, I want to tell you about a person whose presence, art and story made me deeply believe for the firs time that I can create space for myself in the blogging sphere.
Earl's presence, personality and story shifted my axis in how I saw the world and creativity and my place in it. I met him in 2020 while I was in Dominica. In February 2022 while now living in Paris, France, I got news that Earl passed away. I was incredibly excited to tell you about Earl and had written one of the blog posts I am most proud of. The joy and life that radiated from Earl was contagious. I remember him telling me about how at the start of his art career he was lacklustre and did not have a distinct "voice" that belonged to him and him alone in his pieces. In embracing his love for art, practicing it and exploring various mediums he found his voice and he became exceptional at what he did.
Edna Explores is not perfect. There is going to be typos, the writing style may not be great in some articles, and I am still trying to find my voice in this creative blogging space. But the desire to explore the world and wellness and to talk about it is something that continues to burn bright and is getting restless at being kept too close out of fear. I have stories to tell, explorations to be had, recommendations to give and I want to take you along on my journey. To Earl who made me believe that I have a voice in the creative space which I should give myself the chance to discover, Rest in Power! You are deeply missed.
PS. I wish I could show you all a picture of Earl in the blog and link to the blog post I wrote about him. But alas, Wix, the platform I am using, is have technical issues again...
Working with locals, I provide you with uniquely curated experiences and recommendations that get you off the beaten track and into the heart of the community you travel to.
