Located in the village-like, tourist-scarce, and bohemian Batignolles district at the edge of the 17th arrondissement is Les Francaises resturant . What makes this place special and worthy of an Edna Explores mention? "The French" as the restaurant is called translated, has discovered the perfect combination of great location, simple and captivating decoration, friendly staff, fantastic music and excellent food. In Paris, all those highlights in one package is rare.
Somehow, Les Francaises has managed to do it all.
Partially true to its name, the restaurant serves both traditional French cuisine and food from other countries. What is consistent and completely true is how full of flavour the food is in taste, sight, and smells drifting from the visible kitchen and the served plate(s) of food. You can choose to go with small plates and try several dishes (I recommend) or order a large plate. The choice is yours. Whatever you do, if you see the sauteed artichoke with miso seasoning and 24-months aged parmesan cheese on the menu, try it. Why? This dish would make going back to the restaurant a must so it can be consumed again.
I would also recommend pairing the delectable artichoke dish with the truffle flavoured mashed potatoes. Yum, yum, yum!
To have the optimal eating experience at the restaurant, a sit by the window is highly recommended. It's the perfect spot for people watching and you get to experience the elegant and simple decoration indoors as you listen to upbeat music.
After a meal that is guaranteed to be remembered, a stop across the street to a delightful and quirky flower shop will be the cherry on the top of a very good cake.
Working with locals, I provide you with uniquely curated experiences and recommendations that get you off the beaten track and into the heart of the community you travel to.
