Walking around Bogota’s center is like walking through a massive open-air street art gallery, dense with social and political commentary. Every block seems to feature a work of art made using spray cans. Some of this artistic defacing is made by amateurs, and others were made by incredibly talented artists. All are intriguing!
These works of art come even more alive and take a more profound meaning on and after a tour with the Original Bogotá Graffiti Tour. The tour was a fantastic way to learn about the city, its history and its underlining tension points. I saw the talent of street artists using spray cans, learned about their messages, and found out about the discrimination faced by Africans and Indigenous people in the country. Guide David was himself a professional street artist – he was informative, funny, and animated.
The city took on an enhanced vibrancy following the graffiti tour.
